The role
We are looking for a Public Records Specialist for US background screening and compliance companies. The work is analytical: review criminal and civil records returned from court researchers and database searches, apply client compliance guidelines, and decide what is legally reportable and what is not. Your judgment directly affects whether someone gets a job, so accuracy is the whole job. No background screening experience required; we train the right person. Selected candidates are interviewed now and matched to a client engagement as it opens.
What you will do
- Review criminal records returned from court researchers and database searches
- Analyze and interpret records to determine what is reportable and what is not
- Apply client guidelines and compliance rules to every record you handle
- Flag discrepancies and escalate anything that needs a second look
- Keep accuracy high and handle sensitive consumer data with care
