What your Linker handles

  • Request employment, income and other records from your clients, follow up until they arrive, and index and summarize what comes back
  • Run client intake and conflict checks, collect what the matter needs, and keep the file complete from day one
  • Prepare draft bankruptcy petitions, schedules and creditor matrices in the petition software you run, such as Best Case, for attorney review
  • Draft, format, cite check and proofread motions, pleadings and client correspondence for attorney review
  • Assemble the filing and stage it for your attorney to submit through PACER and CM/ECF, then keep proof of filing and service
  • Calendar deadlines, hearing dates and objection windows, and remind the attorney before, not after
  • Keep case notes, status updates and billable time entries current in Clio, MyCase, Filevine or whatever your firm runs
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts and third parties, and route anything that calls for legal judgment back to the attorney
  • Protect client confidentiality and privilege at every step, including how files are stored and shared
Your software

We screen for the petition software you run, such as Best Case, NextChapter or Jubilee, plus case management such as Clio, MyCase or Filevine, and PACER and CM/ECF. Petition software experience is a plus we look for, not a requirement of the role, so not every assistant has used Best Case. If a finalist has not used yours, you'll know before they start.

How the work is measured

What your Linker is measured on. The targets are set with you in the first week, from your volumes and your hours, and written into your statement of work.

  • Every deadline calendared and tracked on the matters they work, with filing deficiencies caught before anything is filed
  • Drafts that come back from the attorney with edits to substance, not to formatting, citations or typos
  • Intake moved to a complete file quickly, with records requests out early in the process
  • Time entries and case notes kept current, so the firm can bill without chasing them

Who we put on it

  • Signs a confidentiality agreement and passes a background check
  • Works your US business hours from a quiet, private workspace
  • Wired internet with a backup connection and a plan for power outages
  • Clear written and spoken English your customers and partners can follow

How it starts

  1. Step 1Tell us the work: a 15 or 30 minute call with Dan, or the sixty second scope on the homepage.
  2. Step 2Get a written quote at the published rate, held for 30 days.
  3. Step 3We recruit and screen for your work and your software, and you interview the finalist before they start.
  4. Step 4Your Linker works your queue on your hours. A Neon Link manager runs the account and answers when you need them.
  5. Step 5If the fit is wrong in the first 60 days, we swap them at no cost.

A good fit, and not a fit

  • Consumer bankruptcy practices on Best Case where the attorney is still keying petitions and schedules after hours
  • Firms where retained clients sit for weeks because nobody has time to chase their paperwork
  • Attorneys who want one assistant who learns their intake, their templates and their local formatting rules
Not a fit
  • Legal advice to your clients, including which chapter to file or what to exempt. Those calls stay with your attorney
  • Signing or filing. Your Linker stages the filing, and your attorney reviews, signs and submits it
  • Working directly for debtors as a petition preparer. Your Linker works only for your law firm, under your attorney's supervision

Questions owners ask

How much does it cost to outsource bankruptcy petition prep?

$2,995 a month for one dedicated, full-time person (40 hours a week), month to month, or $2,895 a month on the 6-month plan. There is no setup fee, and pay, equipment and management are inside that one number. For comparison, a US paralegal costs about $7,270 a month fully loaded, using the BLS median wage plus employer costs.

Can a remote assistant prepare petitions and schedules in Best Case?

As drafts for attorney review, yes: petitions, schedules and creditor matrices built from the intake and the records your client sends, inside the petition software your firm runs. Best Case experience is a plus we screen for, not a requirement of the role, so if a finalist has not used it, you'll know before they start. Your attorney reviews, signs and submits every filing.

Will they already know Best Case?

We screen for it, but it is not a requirement of the role, so not every assistant has used it. The role does require real depth in a practice area, which for your firm we look for in bankruptcy, along with a case management system and US filing mechanics such as PACER and CM/ECF. If a finalist has not used Best Case, you'll know before they start.

Does our attorney still review everything?

Yes. Your Linker works under your attorney's supervision, the same way an in-house paralegal does, and nothing leaves your firm without the attorney's review. They don't give legal advice, sign filings or make legal judgment calls.

How is this different from hiring a virtual assistant?

You get one dedicated person who works only for your law firm, on your hours, inside your software, and a Neon Link manager runs the account: pay, equipment, replacement if it comes to that, and a phone that gets answered. You never run offshore payroll or manage a freelancer alone. It is not a shared pool, a ticket queue or a 24/7 answering line.

How fast can someone start?

We start recruiting when you say go. You interview the finalist before anyone starts, and the start date is set with you once you pick the person. We would rather take the time to find the right fit than hand you whoever is free.

What if the person is not the right fit?

If the fit is wrong in the first 60 days, we swap them at no cost. After that, if they leave, we recruit the replacement at no charge and manage the handover. Training on your process runs at the normal monthly rate.

Do we have to sign a long contract?

No. Month to month is available on every plan. The 6-month plan trades a longer commitment for a lower monthly rate. A written quote at the published rate is held for 30 days.
