Paralegal / Legal Support Specialist
The attorney's most trusted pair of hands.
The role
Neon Link places paralegals and legal support specialists with US law firms in the lanes that hire remote support most: personal injury and workers comp, consumer bankruptcy, immigration, family law, and estate planning and probate. The work is drafting and formatting pleadings, petitions and correspondence for attorney review, running intake, chasing records, organizing discovery, preparing filings, and keeping the calendar and the case file clean. This is support work performed under the supervision of a licensed US attorney: you won't give legal advice, sign filings or make legal judgment calls, and nothing leaves the firm without the attorney's review. It matters because a missed deadline or a sloppy petition costs a client their case, and firms figure out fast who they can hand a file to and stop worrying about. People do well here when they're precise, unbothered by a heavy docket, and quick to raise the question the attorney needs to answer. Selected candidates are interviewed now and matched to a client engagement as it opens.
What you'll do
- Draft, format, cite check and proofread pleadings, motions, petitions, demand letters, agreements and client correspondence for attorney review
- Run client intake and conflict checks, collect what the matter needs, and keep the file complete from day one
- Request and follow up on medical, police, employment, income and insurance records, then index and summarize what comes back
- Prepare the work your lane calls for: bankruptcy petitions, schedules and creditor matrices; USCIS forms and evidence packets; discovery responses and deposition summaries; or estate, trust and probate documents
- Assemble filings and stage them for the attorney to submit through PACER and CM/ECF or the state e-filing portal, then keep proof of filing and service
- Calendar deadlines, limitation periods, hearing dates and objection windows, and remind the attorney before, not after
- Keep case notes, status updates and billable time entries current in Clio, MyCase, Filevine or whatever the firm runs
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts and third parties, and route anything that calls for legal judgment back to the attorney
- Protect client confidentiality and privilege at every step, including how files are stored and shared
- No missed deadlines and no filing deficiencies on the matters you calendar
- Drafts that come back from the attorney with edits to substance, not to formatting, citations or typos
- Intake to a complete file in 5 business days or less, with records requests sent the same week
- Time entries and case notes current by end of day, so the firm can bill without chasing you
What you bring
- 2 or more years supporting a US law firm as a paralegal or legal assistant, or a law degree from your home country paired with strong drafting experience
- Real depth in at least one lane: personal injury or workers comp, bankruptcy, immigration, family law, or estates and probate; tell us which one
- Comfortable in a case management system such as Clio, MyCase, Filevine, Smokeball or PracticePanther, and able to pick up the firm's system quickly
- Familiar with US court filing mechanics: PACER and CM/ECF, state e-filing portals, service of process, and local formatting rules
- Precise written English, sharp proofreading, and clean document work in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat, including styles, bookmarks and redaction
- Clear on the boundary: this is support work under a licensed attorney, and you don't give legal advice or make legal decisions
- Discreet with confidential and privileged information; you'll sign an NDA and pass a background check
- Able to work US business hours, which is the night shift in India, and to hold that schedule long term
- A quiet, private workspace where client matters can't be overheard, wired internet of at least 25 Mbps with a backup connection, a computer that runs the firm's tools, and a headset for client and court calls
- Education: a bachelor's degree is preferred, and an LLB or other law degree, or a paralegal certificate, is a real advantage; US firm experience matters most
- Best Case, NextChapter or Jubilee for bankruptcy, or Docketwise, INSZoom or Cerenade for immigration
- Legal research in CaseText, Westlaw, Lexis or Fastcase
- Medical records review and chronology building for injury or malpractice files
- E-discovery tools such as Everlaw, Relativity or Logikcull
- A NALA CP, NFPA RP or US paralegal certificate program on your record
